1.  Edzell sign at entrance to village on the "Lang Stracht"

2.  Dalhousie Memorial Arch at southern entrance to Edzell village with a view of the tower of Inglis Memorial Hall. The arch was built in memory of Lord Dalhousie and his wife who died within 24 hours of each other.

3.  Part of the original Gannochy Shooting Lodge used annually by the U.S.A. millionaire industrialist financier and philanthropist J. Peirpoint Morgan. During the grouse, pheasant, and wild deer shooting season in June/July in the 1930s many famous people were guests at the Lodge.

4.  Looking north up the North Esk river from Gannochy Bridge, near Edzell.

5.  Eric Walker Sr. "on the rocks" at Gannochy (known as "The Blue Door" to U.S. Navy personnel from the former Navy Base).

6.  Two images of Gannochy Bridge from the rocks below. When in spate the rocks are completely covered by white foaming water rushing down to the North Sea near Montrose from its source in the hills of the Mounth with both the Water of Mark and the Water of Lee contributing to the river in its upper reaches.

7.  A rocky gorge at low water near Gannochy.

8.  A tranquil scene looking upstream at Gannochy, near Edzell.

9.  A wild part of the North Esk at the beautiful Rocks of Solitude (looking downstream).

10.  A white water gorge on the North Water on a calm day. Rugged, wild and grand at times, this part of the river is really impressive.

11.  Two images looking towards "The Bulg" and other hills from Auchmull Castle.

12.  The ruins of Edzell Castle with its walled garden and summerhouse. Former home of the ancient Lindsay family. Known as "The Kitchen of Angus" due to the food distributed to the local poor after great banquets held at the castle years ago.

13.  3 miles west of Edzell the rocks on the West Water river showing the small, but well known, "Pirner's Brig". Built for the millionaire J. P. Coates of Paisley who was a cotton reel manufacturer. These wooden reels are called "Pirns" hence the name of the bridge. Annual guests of shooting parties used it and it is now a well used beautiful picnic area.

14.  A herd of beautiful red Highland Cattle on Glen Lethnot road. The Brown Caterthun can be seen in the background, a former Pictish fort more than 2000 years old.

15.  The Hill of Wirren from Caterthun Road. This hill dominates the surrounding countryside in all directions. Lovely views of the North Sea, Howe of the Mearns, Strathmore Valley, Lochnagar, and Balmoral in Royal Deeside can be seen from this hill. A pleasant walk of 1-2 hours to the plateau and summit awaits.

16.  Information signs and map of the Caterthuns.

17.  The tumbled down inner wall surrounding the flat encampment area and well at the top of White Caterthun. Another tumbled down wall a little farther down shows the encampment was fortified by a double wall of stones.

18.  Eric Walker Jr.at the famous cup and ring marked stone on the top of White Caterthun. The designs on the large boulder have never revealed their Pictish secret. Hill of Wirren is in the background.

19.  The ancient Brechin Cathedral with its separate Round Tower, early B.C. A vantage point and stronghold against Norse Viking raiders approaching from Lunan Bay and Montrose.

20.  A view of Brechin High Street from the Market Cross.

21.  A view of Brechin from Dalgety Farm. The smoke is from heather being burned to promote green shoots of blueberry in order to feed and fatten grouse and other game birds, ready for the shooting season.

22.  A view upstream on the River Southesk towards the ancient Brig O' Brechin.

23.  Looking upstream on the River Southesk and along River Street from the top of the BrechinBrig.

24.  Brechin Brig, looking downstream.
