3. From Brechin Cathedral Square Tower looking SW. In foreground was home of Alexander Black and his wife Elizabeth Garvie in early 1800s. First printer in Brechin 1817. Gt. Gt. Gt. Gt. grandparents of Eric Walker Sr. Cottage was built in 1702 by relative Isobel Shirress.

9. Looking NE down the valley of the River Southesk towards Montrose. Building in distance with tower is main building and former offices of D. & R. Dukes jute and linen weaving factory (1840s - 1970s). It has since been converted into residential flats.
10. Bob Mann, former science teacher at Brechin High School, now Fabric Convener of the Cathedral., standing on the walkway and stone parapet of Brechin Cathedral Round Tower looking east. Bob is presently engaged in furbishing a museum in a room of the tower under the cathedral bells. On the wall are tapestries made by U.S. Navy wives, one by Mrs Jane Kretzman.
